Miss Anet
Director

Miss Anet has worked in daycare for 19 years, 11 as a director. As a longtime educator of young children, she believes in a hands-on approach and enjoys mingling with children and parents. Truly a part of the Ruston Christian family, Miss Anet enjoys supporting staff with lesson plans, arts & crafts and discipline. Her philosophy is “children first,” and she believes that parents and childcare providers must work together to bring home and daycare together, providing a smooth transition for all children.

Miss Laura
School-age teacher

Retired from the Tacoma Public Library system after 27 years as a children’s librarian, Miss Laura has been teaching part-time in the Preschool classroom for four months, and recently agreed to a full-time position as the school-age teacher. Miss Laura is a lifelong lover of books and strives to pass on that love to the children of Ruston Christian. An enthralling storyteller and dedicated teacher, she enjoys getting kids involved in activities that stimulate their curiosity.

Miss Kamie
Preschool teacher

Miss Kamie teaches the preschool class at Ruston Christian. Her no-nonsense approach and efficient classroom management skills mean the preschool room is structured, fun and lively. Miss Kamie loves art, and helps children explore new ways of expressing themselves in a variety of media every day. The preschool classroom is also full of books – she keeps more than 200 books available for the children – and the 3- to 5-year-olds are often heard joining in on sing-along stories. A preschool teacher for seven years, Miss Kamie is currently a college student and hopes to one day become an elementary school teacher.

Miss Joan
Toddler teacher

A 6-year veteran of childcare, Miss Joan runs our Toddler II classroom, for 2- to 3-year-olds. An avid volunteer, she enjoys being around children and continues to challenge the older toddlers in her classroom to explore art, music and reading. She loves to sing with the children and enjoys sharing songs and activities that get them moving.

Miss Veronica
Infant teacher

Miss Veronica is a gentle teacher who enjoys spending time with the youngest children at Ruston Christian. She works hard to engage babies’ minds in stimulating activities and can often be found playing with them on the floor. Her calm, pleasant demeanor puts babies at ease and helps them relax in a new environment. Miss Veronica has been at Ruston Christian for two years and is currently an art student.

Miss Vicky
Cook and teacher

Known throughout the school for her easygoing nature and sense of humor, Miss Vicky is one of the first faces every child at Ruston Christian sees in the morning. A favorite of all the Ruston Christian kids, she spends half her time in the classrooms, helping other teachers when needed, and the other half in the Ruston Christian kitchen, whipping up delectable breakfasts, snacks and lunches. She is an accomplished cook who enjoys collecting cookbooks and exploring new cuisines that meet USDA requirements for kids’ meals. She has been at Ruston Christian since the school opened.

Miss Julia
Infant and Chinese teacher

Miss Julia will join Ruston Christian in September. She will work part-time in the infant room. In addition, she will teach the Chinese language program to toddlers and preschoolers three days a week. A native of mainland China, where she was a physician, Miss Julia now lives in Tacoma with her husband and son. She is an avid gardener, and enjoys being neat and organized.
